Our history.

Macau Anglican College opened in 2002 as a private, experimental school in the Macau education system. It began initially as a Kindergarten/Primary school only, with a Principal, 10 teachers and assistant teachers, 145 pupils and 5 classes.

The building was designed by the architect Jose F Pereira Chan. The school’s ethos inspired Chan to look at The Creation of Adam, the fresco painted by Michelangelo on the Sistine Chapel’s ceiling. In the fresco, God is depicted communicating himself to humanity through a pointing finger. The shape of a pointing finger was used by Chan as a design concept for the school.

Our first school principal was Mr David Brown, who saw the school develop and grow over 14 years, through to his retirement in August 2016.

In 2008 we introduced a Secondary section, commencing with Form 1, and brought in Forms 2 to 6 over each successive year.

Our first cohort of Form 6 secondary students graduated with their final MAC school certificate in June 2013.

Principal’s Anniversary Message

The strength and longevity of an organisation is dependent on the foundations on which it was built. After 20 years of existence and founded on the structural, moral and educational foundations on which it was built, our alma mater, Macau Anglican College, this year celebrates twenty years of excellence, pride and prestige.

We are so proud of our many students who have progressed to achieve success in their diverse careers and we are honoured to have played a role in their education. Growth and change are continually and inevitably happening in education, and our school stands firm and strong in the development of a new generation of learners and leaders. As a result, many of you have witnessed MAC becoming a prestigious leading educational institution in Macau.

MAC started as a kindergarten and primary school in 2002 and kept growing through its firm and nurturing foundation, and in 2008 our secondary school was added. Now MAC offers students the opportunity for an international educational programme and a Cambridge certification without having to leave Macau.

It is with heartfelt gratitude that I thank and salute all the stakeholders who have played a role in the development of our institution and for upholding the ethos that makes MAC the outstanding and coveted college that it is today. We also continue to value the support of our teachers, students, parents and the community to build a legacy, and therefore we hope that our theme of “STRONGER TOGETHER” will remain our rallying cry for many more years to come.

Congratulations on achieving 20 years of excellence MAC!
